The biggest software company just bet against its own screens

“AI is going to replace the UI.” That is Salesforce's President of Applications and Marketing, on stage at Dreamforce Tuesday, describing his own company's launch.

The bundle is AIforce. Claudeforce puts 37 prebuilt sales skills behind an MCP server. Agentforce Coworker is an AI teammate inside Salesforce that inherits the permissions of the person it works for. A Headless Toolkit exposes the rest through APIs and skills. You update records, trigger workflows and pull data from Claude or Slack, without ever opening Salesforce.

The largest SaaS company on earth is walking away from its own screens on purpose, betting it survives as the system of record under somebody else's chat window.

Worth stealing: it runs as the user, not as a super-user. That answers the first objection every buyer raises.

What this means for you: “Knows our system” has been a real job skill for as long as you have bought software. Salesforce just told the market it is depreciating. What replaces it is knowing exactly what to ask for. Take the system your team spends the most hours clicking through. Then ask which of them could state the outcome they want in one sentence.  → Salesforce Ben  → IT Pro

Two quick hits

A one-hour AI phone conversation now costs about $1.40 in audio. Google shipped Gemini 3.8 Live on Tuesday: native speech to speech in more than 97 languages, at $0.005 per minute of audio in and $0.018 out. What this means for you: if you priced an agent to answer your phone and decided it cost too much, that number is out of date. Price it again.  → Google

An AI agent read a malicious instruction and acted on it 46 hours later. In a 16-day stress test of multi-agent systems, researchers watched agents act on injected instructions up to 46 hours after exposure. The payload waits in the agent's memory and goes off on a later, unrelated turn. What this means for you: if your agents keep notes between sessions, screening each request as it arrives will not catch this. Ask what they remember, and who can write to it.  → the paper
